Parish Mission Commitment
Our Parish of Pascoe Vale and Oak Park has focussed on raising money to help
resource Anglicans and help non-Anglicans in the Melbourne Diocese and beyond
including overseas.
It covers such things as the Cross Cultural Ministry, Aged Care (more on
this at another time), the
Op Shop,
Box Forrest Chaplaincy
and Local Community Giving.
A recent example was to help the Anglicans in the
Diocese of Papua New Guinea. Bishop Alan Miga,
has shown great
vision in developing a plan to become self-sufficient by purchasing land to grow
Palm Oil trees.
It was hoped the Diocese of Melbourne could raise enough money to buy two
acres of land and palms at the cost of $7,400. It was a fantastic feeling to
see everyone in our Parish take on this challenge. And, with the help of many, we
were able to raise $2,740 - a magnificent effort!
Throughout the coming months we
will focus on new challenges, to support other groups or people in need.
Remembering this can be a smile, a
kind gesture, a re-assessing of our attitudes and a prayer - not just the
offering of financial support.
