CROSS GENERATIONAL MINISTRY

The Parish is committed to being inclusive of all people in their journey of life. Acknowledging the profile of the area, there is a strong commitment to ministry to the elderly, and their families. The Parish strongly believes that when ministering to people who have made the transition to retirement, and possibly to extended care, the whole family is part of the journey.

The Parish is involved in a local retirement village, and two nursing homes:

    Pascoe Vale Gardens

    Dorothy Impey Home

Edith Bendall Lodge                                            (Each name is a link)

As part of our commitment to the elderly, a monthly luncheon program, Chat’n’Chew, operates on the second Tuesday of the month in the Community Centre. Retirees are invited to come to lunch, socialise and share. The meal runs between February and November, commencing at midday. All welcome.

Seminars are also held from time to time, covering nuts and bolts issues such as Enduring Power of Attorney, Funeral Plan and Care, and the complex issue of getting the Will right!

HEALING MINISTRY

Every Wednesday night (February to December) at 7 p.m., a service of Reconciliation and Healing is held in the context of the Eucharist. This service includes the ministry of Anointing and the Laying on of Hands.

EDUCATION

Occasional study groups are run throughout the year. The Trinity Certificate of Ministry and Theology is also offered. See the Trinity College website for further detail: click here TRINITY!

A cathechumenate program also runs as required-this is the journey towards baptism and confirmation. First Communion classes are also held. Anglican students in Catholic Schools are welcome to enquire about first communion and confirmation-inclusion is very important.

TRINOS OP SHOP

As part of the Parish Ministry, the Parish has an Op Shop at 150A Cumberland Road. This is very much of our ‘coal face’. A friendly Op Shop specialising in good quality affordable clothing, bric-a-brac, books, cards, bedding and craft, money raised helps local charities in the area, as well as assisting in the running of the Parish. The Shop is open from Monday to Friday, 10-4 p.m, and Saturday mornings 9.30 to Noon, February to December. Reduced hours apply in January.

PASCOE VALE DROP IN CENTRE and POLISH CENTRE

Wednesday during term times, the Parish hosts the Pascoe Vale Drop in Centre, which is a craft and social group. It is open to the wider community, and is supported by the Parish and the Moreland City Council. It is administered separately from the Parish. All are very welcome.

The Parish also hosts a Polish Migrant Resource Centre that operates out of the Centre on Thursdays.

GUILD

The Parish has an active Ladie’s Guild that meets on the second Thursday of the month in the Community Centre Meeting Room (down past the Memorial Garden, side door). They have regular meetings, guest speakers, outings, sales, lots of laugh and fun. All welcome, 1.00 p.m.

CHAT’N’CHEW

As a ministry to our older people, the opportunity is given between February and November to gather over a lunch on the second Tuesday of the months in the Centre. A simple meal is had with lots of good natured talking, sharing and caring. If you need a lift, contact the Parish Office on 9354 6575.
